Bitlayer BitVM Bridge Integrates Monad Testnet, Unlocking New Experiences for Millions of Users

April 28th saw Bitlayer officially announce the successful integration of BitVM Bridge with the Monad Testnet, marking the first step in the convergence of the Bitcoin ecosystem with the emerging Monad ecosystem.

This integration enables users to experience cross-ecosystem BTC bridging by a trust-minimized way. Specifically, users can bridge vBTC from the BitVM Bridge testnet (BitVMNet) to the Monad Testnet and mint the corresponding YBTC. This allows users to explore the financial and interest-bearing possibilities of YBTC within the Monad ecosystem. Meanwhile, BitVM Bridge now supports the bridging function of YBTC back to BitVMNet.

Monad, an emerging high-performance Layer 1, quickly gained significant user engagement after its testnet launched on February 19th. According to Flipside data, the network now boasts over 9.8 million active users, more than 69 million unique wallets, and has processed over 600 million transactions, making it one of the most vibrant blockchain ecosystems currently. Following this integration, Monad’s user base, numbering in the tens of millions, will also have the opportunity to directly experience BitVM Bridge, the first implemented application of the cutting-edge paradigm, BitVM.

We invite users to visit the BitVM Bridge official website and explore its features here: https://bitvmbridge.bitlayer.org/

How to Use the Bridging Function of BitVM Bridge

Follow this guide to use the bridging function of BitVM Bridge:

  1. Configure Xverse Wallet

Please make sure to manually set the Signet BTC URL in Xverse Wallet as shown in the following illustration:

  2. Obtain a Native SegWit test address in Xverse Wallet

  3. Get BitVMNet BTC (vBTC)

Please log in to the multi-chain faucet The Faucet to get the corresponding vBTC.

BitVMNet is an open Bitcoin Signet network sponsored by Bitlayer, designed to facilitate the development and implementation of BitVM-based applications. BTC on BitVMNet is called vBTC.

You can enter an address starting with tb1q or tb1p to claim vBTC. You need to wait about 20 minutes for Thefaucet to send you the vBTC. Once received, you can view your vBTC balance in Xverse.

  4. Connect Xverse Wallet

Once the Signet BTC URL configuration is done, please open the Bridge page on the BitVM Bridge official website to confirm.

  5. Connect your OKX wallet

  6. Select the target network as per your preference: Currently, BitVM Bridge is compatible with the Ethereum Sepolia and Monad testnets.

  7. Follow the onscreen prompts to input the amount and target address, and confirm the YBTC bridging on the target chain.

How to Bridge YBTC Back to BitVMNet

BitVM Bridge allows users to bridge YBTC from the Ethereum Sepolia/Monad Testnet back to BitVMNet. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the BitVM Bridge website and set BitVMNet as the target network.

  2. After confirming the accuracy of the information, approve the bridging to transfer YBTC back to BitVMNet and receive the corresponding vBTC.

In summary

The integration of Bitlayer with Monad testnet represents a significant step in the convergence of the Bitcoin ecosystem and the emerging high-performance Layer 1 ecosystem. It offers users a trust-minimized experience for cross-ecosystem BTC bridging and allows Monad’s large user base to explore cutting-edge BTC innovations based on the BitVM paradigm.
